Frequently asked questions
Can liquid waterproofing be applied over an existing roof?
Often it can, provided the existing surface is stable, dry enough, compatible and correctly prepared. A roof survey is required before an overlay can be recommended.
Are liquid systems suitable for metal roofs?
Yes. Compatible coatings can be used on suitable metal roofs, including as part of cut edge corrosion treatment. Corrosion, damaged sheets, laps and fixings must be assessed and repaired where necessary first.
Can liquid waterproofing be used around plant and rooflights?
Yes. Its ability to follow irregular shapes makes it useful around many roof penetrations, upstands and rooflights. Each detail must be installed in accordance with the selected system.
Does a liquid roof need maintenance?
Yes. Periodic inspection, clear drainage outlets and controlled access help protect the system and identify damage early. Maintenance requirements may also form part of the warranty conditions.
